Forest Baptist Women's Ministry

Baptist Women

Carol Cates

Carol Cates

Hello my name is Carol Cates and I am the Director of Women's Ministry here at Forest Baptist Church.

I have been married to Jim and together we have attended Forest Baptist for over 40 years. We have raised 3 sons & and a daughter and have been greatly blessed with 10 grandchildren.

I have been teaching Gods Word at our church for many years using Precept Bible Study material.

It was at a women's conference in 2003 when I heard a godly woman Vicki Kraft speak on Titus 2:3-5, that God began to work again in my heart convincing me that we needed an organized ministry for women at our church.

Our purpose is Women Becoming Complete In Him For God's Glory

Marnie Montgomery

Marnie Montgomery

Marnie and her husband Paul have been married for 30 years have four children and two beautiful granddaughters with another grandbaby due to arrive in June.

She and Paul along with their four young children began attending Forest Baptist Church. There Marnie was invited to attend a Precept Upon Precept Bible study. It was thru these studies that she was introduced to Jesus and was saved at the age of thirty four.

Out of her love for Gods Word and a heart for teen girls it is her desire to teach them to dig into the scriptures for themselves.

Beth Campbell

Beth Campbell

Beth was raised in the Wyoming area, on a farm, by loving Christian parents. She has been happily married to her husband Andy for 21 years and they have 3 active, healthy teenagers. Beth's oldest daughter has just completed her first year of university, and her second daughter is in grade 11 and her son is in grade 10.

In the winter Beth can be found in an arena cheering on hockey or figure skating, and in the summer you will find her helping out on her farm or relaxing in a fishing boat up north. Beth has worked as a nurse for 25 years and has found this a wonderful calling to live out her faith. Christ is the centre of her home and her desire is to raise 3 children who will know and follow Him with their whole hearts.

Wynnie VanMaanen

Wynnie VanMaanen

Secretary

Wynnie, her husband Ian, and their six children moved to the area 2 ½ years ago and began attending Forest Baptist Church shortly after.

Married for 22 years, she has home schooled her children for the past 12 years, with the first of their children, a son, leaving for university this past fall.

Relying on God's grace and mercy, and desiring to root and grow her children in the Word of God and His ways through home education, her days are full with a daughter in grade 12, son in grade 10, son in grade 8, son in grade 6, and daughter in grade 2. In her spare moments, you will find her snuggled up with a good book.

Loving God's design and purpose for women, she feels privileged to serve on the women's council.

Jody Ferguson

Jody Ferguson

Jody was born and raised in the Forest area and attended Forest Baptist as a young girl.
When she married her husband Matthew, they decided to make Forest Baptist their home church.

Together, Jody and Matthew have owned and operated a local restaurant for more than 13 years. Jody also keeps busy as the mother of two children, Bethany and Colby. Since returning to school for teacher’s college, Jody is actively seeking a teaching position in the area.

Jody has been involved at Forest Baptist in many ways; through Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, AWANA, in the nursery and taking Precept classes.

She is new to the Women’s Ministry council and is excited to see where God is leading her!

Silvia Burgin

Silvia Burgin

Prayer Co-Ordinator

Fifteen years ago we immigrated with our then four children from Switzerland.

We quickly found a spiritual home at Forest Baptist Church.

Precept Bible Study became a great haven of growth to me.

I grew to love God's word and to know my Lord more intimately.

To have the opportunity to serve in women's ministries fills my heart with the prayer for God to bring us closer together as women (Eccl. 4:9-10), but also to grow deeper in our knowledge of our Lord (Acts 6:4).

Nicola Gordon - Treasurer

Nicola Gordon - Treasurer

Nicola was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and made her own personal commitment to follow Christ at the age of 7.

She has always had a heart for people, especially those in need, and loves to communicate!

This led her to a career as a Communicative Disorders Assistant for 6 years implementing therapy for children with speech and language disorders.

She also loves to cook, bake, sing, and hopes to get reacquainted with her sketching pencils this year!

Nicola has been married to her husband Greg for 19 years and together with God’s wisdom they strive to raise their two sons to be men after God’s own heart.

God has given Nicola many opportunities to serve at Forest Baptist Church. Over the16 years she has been at FBC Nicola has enjoyed serving in the Nursery, Sunday School, AWANA, Seniors ministry and on a Worship team.

Recently Nicola felt God tugging at her heart to serve somewhere else and believes that God would have her join the Women’s Council for a season of ministry. She is excited to embrace this new adventure!
